• To oversee design engineers and ensure all structural & fit-out designs conform to project specification and Class requirements
• Allocate design tasks to design engineers
• Ensure integration of all structure and fit-out
• Ensure correct supplier information is used in all structure design
• Co-ordinate production details with relevant line managers
• Oversee the writing of procurement specifications for major pieces of equipment
• Ensure designs comply with technical specification
• Ensure designs comply with Class and Flag requirements
• Co-ordinate design information for submission to Class and Flag authorities
• Assist with developing shipyard standards for Structure and connection details
• Oversee and review stability analysis before submission to Class.
• Prepare inclining experiment procedures, conduct inclining experiments, prepare inclining report and stability books.
• Knowledge
• Extensive knowledge of the marine and shipbuilding industry
• Thorough understanding of ship structure design and operation
• Understanding of Finite Element Analysis techniques and software
• Knowledge and understanding of current IMO regulations
• Qualifications
• Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture) or equivalent
