The Planning Manager plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates the operations of planning, customer service, purchasing, importing exporting and warehouse. The individual is responsible for developing the master production plan to satisy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory; directing Warehouse to control input/output of the materials and office supplies for the production activities as well as office requirements; providing direction to Purchasing to ensure that raw materials, spare parts, office supplies, production forecasts, mass production and new product plans are met; directing Import & Export to ensure progress of export/ import orders through the company in an efficient manner and providing excellent customer service to make sure that the needs of customers are being satisfied.
Planning
• Plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of materials are released to meet production requirements.
• Ensure major projects and program schedules are horizontally and vertically integrated across company functional groups including engineering, manufacturing, procurement chain and quality.
• Notify management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.
• Produce capacity plans and analysis to support business planning requirements.
• Establish and maintain the master production schedule for all end items.
• Level-load the production schedule, analyze resource capacity, and implement valid build schedules.
• Determine optimal end unit forecast and safety stock levels.
• Maintains inventory levels to required production schedules.
• Maintain weekly and monthly reports to communicate master production schedule performance.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve material, machine and manpower constraints that interfere with schedule completion.
• Review requirements for the production master schedule (6 months out)
• Analyze and identify risks, perform supply demand analysis each month, each quarter; ensure accuracy of information.
• Integrate with production team to determine the needs and constraints of the manufacturing factory through engagement with functional groups, and schedule work orders accordingly.
• Coordinate interdepartmental activity with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Material, Engineering.
• Understand, anticipate and represent customer requirements and translate, via the master production schedule, to employees and management.
• Respond promptly when issues arise and alert the team in a timely manner in order to resolve issues quickly.
• Update new product introduction project schedule based on changes in the Master Production Schedule (MPS), engineering activities and materials updates.
• Ensure the maximization of resources for the production facility - capacity, materials, and labor.
• Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan, identify gaps and drive solutions to the requested production schedule
Customer Service
• Communicate directly with overseas customers and head office.
• Process customer orders in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.
• Organize workflow to meet customer deadlines.
• Make sure that all production changes are updated in the AX system properly.
• Send the updated weekly production report to the customer.
• Inform the customer about the order status.
• Update information on customer’s websites (ship date/ ship mode).
• Attend to customer questions, complaints and concerns immediately and facilitate satisfactory resolution.
Purchasing
• Develop and improve the purchasing process.
• Make supplier sourcing, selection, qualification, evaluation.
• Monitor trends of prices, new technology and other critical information to facilitate better decision making.
• Set up criterion to approve new suppliers and to evaluate their activities as well as implement accordingly.
• Maintain & implement frequent follow-up program to assess supplier performance in quality, cost, services, delivery.
• Set up priorities of order to accomplish all operations including Purchasing management to all company projects and sites included production materials to drive towards effective cost to support the company’s overall objectives by controlling departmental budgets
Import Export Control
• Supervise and evaluate the operation of Import Export department of the Company;
• Control schedules of importing & exporting;
• Keep track of sales contracts, commercial invoices, packing lists and other documents relating to customs clearance.
• Arrange the provisions of import/export processes to provide timely schedule to meet the needs of all departments.
• Make sure to comply with customs barrier control procedures and other legal requirements relating to exporting and importing goods to and from overseas;
Warehouse Control
• Track the stock and ensure no out-of-stock.
• Assure material movements within the plant are carried out safely.
• Set up stock controlling & recording methods of all operations to meet audit requirements.
• Respond timely to customer requests/requirements;
• Have influence over scrap and inventory loss, on-time customer delivery, premium freight cost, total inbound freight cost, material usage and methods.
• Ensure that materials and finished goods are properly managed, inventory is not above the set level but enough for production plan.
• Supervise inventory levels to meet production plan while minimizing inventory risk, supervise the cycle count process, inventory turns.
• Assure the supplies of raw materials to produce the finished goods.
• Do job assigned by superiors;
• Minimum 5 years as a master planner
• Good communication and written in both English and Japanese
• University degree in Economic, Foreign Trade, Business Administration or a related field;
• Experienced in ERP system preferably AX Dynamics
• Experienced in Purchasing terms and logistic terms, Customer Service
• Knowledgeable in LEAN and JIT.
